Victoria Island is a historic gathering place for First Nations. But if you visited it today, you’d be excused for not realizing that.
It’s within walking distance of Parliament Hill and many other important attractions in the Nation's Capital, yet the island is still today dominated by industry. The beautiful Chaudière Falls near the island were chopped up many years to generate electricity, and they remain so today.
A Circle of All Nations wants to change that. They have a vision to reclaim Victoria Island and build a native interpretation centre. They also want to return the Chaudière Falls to their former glory (falls which we discover are leased to Domtar for $100.00 per year).
I speak with Romola, an organizer with A Circle of All Nations.
